JWs Understood: How Common Is Shunning?
This is our first video. It shows how common, and even mundane shunning is. In fact, it is that mundanity that allows our opposers to highlight our specific use of it because people do not realize that they themselves do it, even frequently.

Hey thanks alot for this YT channel!
And been meaning to comment here for awhile now to compliment you on the many fine articles you publish on this blog. So sorely needed as an adjunct to the Society's official material on the subjects you cover.
[Remainder extraxted for peace.]
We're glad you like it.
We do not do this to provide an adjunct to official matterial. At Opposers Dismythed our goal is to provide a counter to poison for individuals as anyone with knowledge would. At JWs Understood, our goal is to help people see past the propaganda against us to understand that we are not the bogeymen we are made out to be. Spiritual food at the right time comes from official channels only.
Again, thank you.
Sorry,
Perhaps I shouldn't have used the term "adjunct" earlier. I really intended to convey that I find the Society's material to be just that, ... obviously focused on providing spiritual food and tending to the needs of the congregations as they should be. And don't really spend time publishing articles at length answering scholars and critics of the NWT or refuting the lies of apostates and opposers.
So I much appreciate sites like this for the few witnesses who wish to pursue these endeavors on their own personal time as long as it doesn't affect their spiritually or take time away from the ministry of course.
I also just wanted to point out that after even a cursory examination of the circuses which regularly take place on the YT comment lists for videos on religious topics (or in fact most any topic on YT nowadays it seems). I didn't want to see you baited by opposers like the aforementioned individual into enabling it is all.
Thanks again, and many regards for rhe work you're doing ...
A point that really stuck to me the last time this was brought up in my hall is that "shunning" isn't some active thing we even do. If a person turns their back on the congregation, they're the ones choosing to leave. We simply respect their decision and give them their space. The congregation's HOPE is that eventually that person will be done with whatever caused them to leave some day, and we fully WANT to welcome those people back with open arms! But, we will fully respect their decision to leave. We don't harass them or have any ill-will. And that's specifically one of the REASONS people are guided not to bother people who have left... Partially to keep ourselves clean, but also to protect the ones who've left from any perception of being mistreated, harassed, judged, etc.
It's not a condemnation, they're simply disconnected from the congregation as long as they choose to be.
Unfortunately, I do not think we will get back to doing more videos. It is a large time commitment and life happens.
The presenter, my writing partner, got most of the way through a second video, but the final clip did not get reshot as needed because of his other commitments.
I tried to get something going on my end, but my cameraman lost interest in filmmaking and his camera became unavailable.
It might not be what Jehovah wanted us to do. Whatever the case, we are keeping our service to Jehovah first and letting everything else take care of itself as time permits.
